It is sometimes referred to as “the Mother of All Kibbutzims” due to a later distinction between the Degania klutz, which applied to the settlement in its early days, and the Degania alef klutz. The klutz is the larger of the two settlements.

The kvutze and the degania alef co-exist. The two settlements are located between the southern shores of the Sea and the Jordan. As of 2021, the population of the Kvutz was 524.
